ryan adams & the cardinals - my heart is broken

ps my love is gone.....
my heart is broken
my love is gone
i lay without you
your pillow cold

i am forsaken
i can't go on
my heart is broken
my love is gone

if I hadn't cheated
while you were gone
the well that we'd
been drinking from
wouldn't a dried
and turned cold

i am forsaken
i can't go on
my heart is broken
my love is gone

if I hadn't cheated
while you were gone
the well that we'd
been drinking from
wouldn't a dried
and turned cold

my days are empty
my nights are long
five cups of coffee
for the years gone wrong

if I hadn't cheated
while you were gone
the well that we'd
been drinking from
wouldn't a dried
and turned cold

i am forsaken
i can't go on
my heart is broken
my love is gone

my love is gone

sharon van etten - consolation prize.wmv

ps... you ran away....
i came to you,
my conscience clean,
blood on my knees.

the moral of the story
is don't walk away again.

i called you out,
to see my bow,
our final scene.

the moral of the story
is don't look away again,
to find a better conversation.

i saw you there,
your friends aware,
without a care.

the moral of the story
is don't lie to me again
to find a better conversation,
so I can be your consolation prize

i ran away
to stand my ground,
look what I found.

the moral of the story
is don't walk away again,
to find a better conversation,
so I can be your consolation prize.
to find a better conversation,
no, I'll never be your consolation prize.

born yesterday ~ a thing or two - ryan adams

ps what happened? why? .......... hold onto

make me a list of all the things
that I don't wanna know
to keep me sane
make me a wish that I will never have to know
what it is you do when I have to go
cause I know a thing or two
my birthday keeps falling
on the day before yours does, too

all my day dreams feel so nice
medicate my worried life
something else for me to hold onto

make a plan of how I'm supposed to assume
that it's normal
to never hear from you
i'll understand
i will be here for you
when the lights go down
in some strange part of town
cause I know a thing or two
my birthday keeps falling
on the day before yours does too

all my day dreams feel so nice
medicate my worried life
something else for me to hold onto
hold onto

make me a list of all the things
that I don't wanna know
to keep me sane
make me a wish that I will never have to know
what it is you do when I have to go
cause I know a thing or two
my birthday keeps falling
on the day before yours does, too

all my day dreams feel so nice
medicate my worried life
something else for me to hold onto

make a plan of how I'm supposed to assume
that it's normal

anna ternheim - i say no

ps what happened? i say no

lately you've been bothered by your friends
we will disturb you, to make you talk again
try to find the other side of you
the things you hide, what you don't say

we say no, oh no
we won't let you slip inbetween
we say no, oh no
we won't let you squeeze right through

give you second chances easily
we wait for answers, for hours and years
but the sadness in your eyes won't go away
it becomes you, in a strange kind of way
i wonder where you come from
who you've been
what you gain, if you win
but my guess is right you break like glass
and I wonder where, your god was then

i say no, oh no
i won't let you slip inbetween
i say no, oh no
i won't let you squeeze right through

oh how sweet a boy like you can be

when he tries
you're changing skin like I change clothes
you're faking it well, but it shows

you say: lately I've been bothered by my friends
they need foregiveness
i need therapy, they say
better lock up well before they come
with their prayers, and loaded guns
better lock up well before they come
more than ten years to ignore, what they here for

we say no, oh no
we won't let you slip inbetween
we say no, oh no
we won't let you squeeze right through

we say no, no no no
since you fall from every throne

fences @ the silverlake lounge 10.04.10

ps i went to see the head and the heart and discovered fences on this very evening. the band consists of
CHRISTOPHER MANSFIELD//VOX,GUITARS
GREG//DRUMS,PERCUSSION
JONATHAN//E.GUITAR,KEYS
TERRY//E.BASS
indeed mansfield is a story teller through his music with lyrics such as “i'm fucking up, i’m fucking up, i’m fucking up everything” from the song girls with accents, or boys around here lyrics like “i’ll be alright if I can just stay in tonight. i don’t want to talk. just let me drink, tomorrow we’ll give up.”
forever bummed... is a description on their myspace page. how can one not love that description? personally i think sad tragic music is most beautiful! watching christopher's stage manerisms, looking at his image, listening to his voice and lyrics combines a story that you hate to hear, but need to know... where does this pain come from? my assumption is... life!
spin magazine said, "fences mastermind, chris mansfield, looks like he could be a roadie for new jersey hardcore band thursday, but don't be fooled. it's his acoustic guitar and quiet stories of emotional torment that shine..." i agree with this completely.
i will continue to play their music on blip.fm http://blip.fm/CreepingElm to help get their music heard!

the head and the heart @ the silverlake lounge and bardot 10.4.10

ps music has become my religion, and the head and the heart are part of it. i have been playing them on blip.fm (http://blip.fm/CreepingElm) for the last month and was excited when i saw they were playing in la.
the head and the heart are a folk-rock band hailing from seattle, washington. i had the pleasure of seeing them twice in the same evening, first at the packed silverlake lounge and then at bardot in hollywood. they played songs from their eponymous debut lp, 3 of their finest being "down in the valley," "lost in my mind," and "sounds like hallelujah." everyone had a grand time dancing and singing along. it's a show that you can't just stand in one place and listen to, as their music makes you celebrate and move.
i walk through the canyons everyday and singing "down in the valley," whose words are better than mine to describe this band to watch-
"i know there's california, oklahoma
and all the places i ain't ever been to but
down in the valley with whiskey rivers
these are the places you will find me hidin'
these are the places I will always go.”

the band consists of:
josiah johnson - vocals, guitar, percussion
jon russell - vocals, guitar, percussion
kenny hensley - piano
tyler williams - drums
charity thielen - violin, vocals, percussion
chris zasche - bass
