“life is the sacred mystery singing to itself, dancing to its DRUM, telling tales, improvising, playing”
a drummer is the backbone who makes the band sway. i know this drummer who i believe creates his own interpretations and no way is he a mechanical drummer. softly and slowly at moments, but with much capability he brings out the extreme elements of drumming. it is his artistic expression building upon his own story. he is moving art!
currently he is playing with jameson.
if you speak to him about music he might tell you "music is the true form of hypnosis" or "music is also the truest form of time travel." it's just as much fun listening to him speak about music than it is hearing him play!
now for hearing this moving art hypnotize us...

tiny Dancer - almost famous music video
ps you are home... {one of the best scenes}
ps singing on the bus one more time... "you are home!"
the day i decided to fly
ps i have been thinking about doing this for some time. back in oct. i received ifly as a birthday gift. you might be asking yourselves why i waited 5 months before using it. that's an easy answer: i forgot about it until receiving a reminder that it had to be used by the 28th of march. so i decided to go on the 28th and made my appt. my instructor, scott, was much fun. thanks scott.. you rock!
the feeling of being blown in the air to fly is an unreal sensation. then going higher and higher as if i were a bird and falling back down.... feeling freeeee! i didn't want to leave the tube. this was recorded and maybe i'll add the video so you can feel my experience. being a beginner i could only do one flying pose.. no stunts today. still amazing. now the bigger challenge ~ my next adventure is skydiving! heck i am scared of tiny planes and then jumping out of one... yikes. i will report back after the free falling experience happens. (:
ps ps if you have an ifly near you... go fly!
ps ps ps if you see a blonde girl flying in the air don't be frightened.. it's just me! if you do see me flying, i might swoop down to save you... hehehe have i turned superhero?

wye oak @ the echo 3.24.11
indie rock duo wye oak ~ baltimore’s jenn wasner {vocals, guitar} and andy stack {drum, keyboards, backing vocals} are on the road promoting their 3rd album, "civilian," and i had the pleasure to catch their show at the echo. through their rich, fuzzed out soundscapes of guitar, percussion, keyboard and spaces of silence they brought to life isolation and loneliness. thank you jenn and andy for creating a room full of massive sonic noise that fascinated all!

jameson @ the hotel cafe 01.07.11 {repost}
ps from santa ana, ca comes a bluesy folk inspired singer/songwriter jameson. completeing his band is the bassist dave beste, lap steel guitarist justin burrow, drummer john wilson, singer pavla dlab and dallas kruse on B3, accordion and percussion. there is a shadowy beam in jameson's aura when he sings and you can feel the passion in his voice. ethereal croons and impassioned howls grow to a mesmerising climax that will leave any listener in awe of the sheer talent on display. his poetic verses are the perfect compliment to his music styling through immediacy and a beat. together with his band it's their haunting yet utterly sounds creating melancholic beauty that should be treasured by music lovers. let their dark beauty take over the hearts and minds of listeners. influences include tom waits, leonard cohen, bob dylan, and neil young. if you enjoy folksy blues you will not be disappointed with jameson's powerful work! this band truly deserves a place as one of folk’s finest.
ps ps "this one" cd release show with full band is saturday, march 26 at 9:00pm - march 27 at 2:00am at the hotel cafe, 1623 1/2 north cahuenga blvd, los angeles, ca 90028.

the cave singers @ the autry 3.13.11
ps the cave singers are on tour promoting their mystifying album "no witch" and it was a must that i see them live. this folk rock band from seattle, washington is made up of pete quirk (vocals, guitar, melodica, harmonica) derek fudesco (guitar, bass pedals) and marty lund (drums, guitar). their unique sound and musicianship is more evident when seeing them live. they don't need to jump around the stage to feel the power of their music - it comes from their soul. my favorite part of the show was when they played "swim club" and "leap" back to back. thank you cave singers for playing at the autry. it was a grand show!
"no witch," released in feb. 2011, is the third album from the cave singers.
