the head and the heart @ the silverlake lounge and bardot 10.4.10

ps music has become my religion, and the head and the heart are part of it. i have been playing them on blip.fm (http://blip.fm/CreepingElm) for the last month and was excited when i saw they were playing in la.
the head and the heart are a folk-rock band hailing from seattle, washington. i had the pleasure of seeing them twice in the same evening, first at the packed silverlake lounge and then at bardot in hollywood. they played songs from their eponymous debut lp, 3 of their finest being "down in the valley," "lost in my mind," and "sounds like hallelujah." everyone had a grand time dancing and singing along. it's a show that you can't just stand in one place and listen to, as their music makes you celebrate and move.
i walk through the canyons everyday and singing "down in the valley," whose words are better than mine to describe this band to watch-
"i know there's california, oklahoma
and all the places i ain't ever been to but
down in the valley with whiskey rivers
these are the places you will find me hidin'
these are the places I will always go.”

the band consists of:
josiah johnson - vocals, guitar, percussion
jon russell - vocals, guitar, percussion
kenny hensley - piano
tyler williams - drums
charity thielen - violin, vocals, percussion
chris zasche - bass
