basia bulat @ the echo 10.05.10
ps a night spent at the echo was spectacular.. basia bulat was one of the amazing folk singers that i had the pleasure of seeing this evening. touring and promoting her new album, heart of my own, opened for first aid kit. what a sweet, grateful girl singing on the stage with her variety of strings. one of my favorites being the autoharp. best stated by pitchfork's, amy granzin..."her alto's the aural equivalent of the perfect party host who makes every guest not only welcome, but certain they're the most important person in the room" i found to be very true. surprise.... on stage basia sang a polish song, ‘to nie ptak’, loosely translated, “it’s not a bird.”
one of her songs in polish after mentioning her proud polish heritage. as i listened to her songs I find her musically faithful to the rustic sentiments. her songs grow and reveal their treasures slowly. they are golden! thank you basia........
i share these golden treasures on blip.fm ... have a listen sometime: http://blip.fm/CreepingElm
